I'm the designer and author Marie-Luise Holder, a resident of Baden-Wuerttemberg (the Swabia country), Germany. My creativity began in childhood. Drawings and the tinkering of simple things, coupled with joy in nature, gave its additional contribution. Throughout my former years, my fantasies and visions progressed to realism. It was a time of experimentations, playing with material and colors, and a discovery of new techniques.
Through my study at the Educational Institute for Sport and Textile Crafts in Kirchheim/Teck, my ideas slowly took shape. Many technical and other abilities related to crafts were awaken within me, and began to weave together with my artistic vein. Later, my way led into Baden, to the city of Offenburg to the publishing house, Aenne Burda. As an editorship assistant, I learned to write guidance texts combined with illustrations. My theoretical knowledge was enormously extended. This experience led me to the next step my own needlework business. Ten years long, I learned from my faithful customers, transferring theory into practice. However, time for my own creativity waned. Thus, I decided to dedicate myself completely to the design of cross-stitch and crochet books. Through my versatile talents, it was easy for me to adjust myself into this subject and sketch out suitable motifs, addressing all age groups. I hope that you enjoy working with my cross-stitch and crochet motifs, as these will make a pretty, non-standard gift for good friends, or simply to adorn your own home! Your Marie-Luise Holder |
